Alone with his guitar. In subdued and cosy surroundings, Vandaveer gently strokes his guitar and obtains the silence needed to appreciate his acoustic show to the fullest. From the first chords and from his presence on stage, Mark Charles inspires respect from the public around him, ready from the start to be carried away into this artist's very personal musical universe. Almost like a close friend telling you a late night story as you gently doze off, Vandaveer plays the right notes, no fluff, no embellishment, with a sensitivity that leaves you speechless and warm inside

Seul avec une guitare. Dans une ambiance tamisée, cosy, Vandaveer gratte doucement les cordes de sa gratte et obtient le silence qu il faut pour son premier titre. Dès les premières secondes de son show acoustique, Mark Charles en impose, le public l entoure prêt à  écouter ce jeune songwriter américain décidé à  emmener dans son monde ces gens venus l écouter. Un peu comme un proche bienveillant venant vous conter une histoire vraie alors que vous rejoignez les bras de Morphée., Vandaveer joue juste, sans fioritures, avec une sensibilité qui, à  la fin du concert, vous laissera dans du coton. Et le coton c est doux comme le meilleur de la folk indie américaine.

Vandaveer is the partly sunny, mostly cloudy, town-folk, city-pop song & dance routine penned and put forth by DC-based songsmith Mark Charles. Grace & Speed, Vandaveer's debut record, entered this great big world in March 2007 via DC's Gypsy Eyes Records, earning stellar reviews and repeated comparisons to Donovan, Dylan, Drake, Waits, and scores more. Vandaveer has enjoyed the good fortune of performing up and down the east coast and beyond with a host of humbling artists, including Vashti Bunyan, Alejandro Escovedo, Smog, The Ditty Bops, Vetiver, Joan As Policewoman, and his dear friends in DC's ramshackle collective, The Federal Reserve.
