Review

These US s show took place in the cozy atmosphere of the Baron club in Paris. Banjo on the right - tapping on a guitar case, guitar on the left, and in the middle, Jesse Elliot, who seduced us right away. He sang, strummed the guitar, chatted with his audience, played with us, always grinning. And we asked for more. For more of these US, and less of the commercially-formatted so-called indie songs from those US.

C est dans l ambiance feutrée du Baron qu avait lieu le concert acoustique de These United States. Banjo à  droite, guitare à  gauche, ça tape du pied sur un étui de guitare, Jesse Elliott au milieu de tout ça. Dès le premier titre, le leader de These US annonce la couleur : celle de la séduction. Un rictus au coin de la bouche, l œil malicieux Jesse Elliott chante, joue de la guitare, et discute pas mal avec le public, le faisant marcher, se le mettant surtout dans la poche. Ce fut notre cas, séduit par ce que dégage ce groupe de folk indie, loin des daubes commerciales formatées que peut produire Those US.

Sometimes folk, sometimes country, sometimes rock and often poetic, These US is an ode to the whole American indie music : bearded, chilled-out, deep, old school, light and bright. In one word, the US we love !

Emmené par Jesse Elliott, David Strackany et Mark Charles (Vandaveer), These US est le genre de groupe que l on cerne avec difficulté, et, c est pour eux un compliment. Pourquoi ? Grâce à  melting pot d influences musicales qui servent le groupe, qui l identifie. Tantà´t folk, tantà´t country, parfois rock et souvent poétique, These US est une ode à  l indie music américaine tout entière : Barbue, posée, profonde, old school, parfois légère, et surtout mélodieuse. Bref, le genre d Amérique qui nous plait ! more>>>

Le Baron IS Paris chic. See & be seen, but make sure you know someone on the inside or you'll be standing outside like a fool. Intimate, sexy, red, cozy, fuzzy, warm, this ex-brothel hosts fucking cool concerts orchestrated by Arnaud (sound engineer extraordinaire).
