Early in the summer, the Divan welcomed Melpo Mene. In the darkness of the stage, only a string of fairy lights sparkled enough to highlight the edges of the instruments set up for this interesting duo, on their first performance together! The couple, dressed in red and black (including Mattiason's crazy red makeup mask) took their time - to play a very fragile folk music, sometimes regulated by a synth or electronic beat. Mattiason's detached attitude, mixed with the sensitivity of his partner and the few glitches due to the duo's novelty on stage gave Melpo Mene's sound an energy and deepness that made it impossible to leave the show without humming a memorable tune!

Melpo Mene

The name "Melpo Mene" comes from the Greek muse of song and musical harmony. Behind the pseudo is Erik Mattiason, a young man with a light voice... just like his music: cool swedish folk. The young songwriter has been composing since 2000 acoustic folk music, with hints of electro and melancoly. After two studio albums on Imperial Recordings, his single "I Adore You" finally gives him mass recognition. Melpo Mene's compositions are well crafted, make you feel warm and fuzzy inside, and the lyrics are right on. The result is intoxicating.

Derrière Melpo Mene (nom de la muse grecque du chant et de l harmonie musicale) se cache Erik Mattiason. Un jeune homme fin à  la voix légère à  l image de sa musique : une folk suédoise enlevée. Ce jeune songwriter livre depuis 2000 des compositions folk/acoustiques teintées d électronique et de mélancolie. Après deux albums studio chez Imperial Recordings, c est le single " I adore you " (tiré de son second album studio) qui le révèle au grand public. Close to Montmartre, historical district for a historical club. Famed Toulouse Lautrec & Picasso hangout, it's now a unique club with high ceiling, great stage for concerts & club nights, and "japanese lounge" mezzanine with a view over the dancefloor.
Nice concert space for rock & world-music.
