Review

The sun is high in the sky during the second day of Route du Rock 2009 as we meet up with Camera Obscura, from Scotland, for a little acoustic session. With 2 guitars and an egg shaker, they play emotionally rich tunes for us while still celebrating summer in the sun. A simple moment, evanescent, mixed with laughter and good fun.

En ce second jour au festival de la Route du Rock, le soleil est au rendez-vous et nous avons la chance de faire une session acoustique avec le groupe écossais : Camera Obscura. Avec seulement 2 guitares et un oeuf, ils produisent une musique riche en émotion tout en gardant la légèreté du moment. Un moment simple, evanescent entremêlé de rire et de bonne humeur.

Camera Obscura

Camera Obscura were formed in 1996 by Tracyanne Campbell, John Henderson, and Gavin Dunbar. Several other members performed with the band before David Skirving joined as a permanent guitarist. The band's first releases were the singles "Park and Ride" and "Your Sound" in 1998. The band's line up changed in 2000 and 2001 when Lee Thompson joined as its permanent drummer and Lindsay Boyd as a keyboard player and Skirving left and was replaced by Kenny McKeeve. The Rare UK Bird EP was also released in 1999.

In November 2008, the band announced that they had completed recording the follow-up to Let's Get Out of This Country, and that the new album, My Maudlin Career, would be released in April 2009. In February 2009, it was announced that the band had signed to the label 4AD, who will release the album, and that "due to family commitments Nigel will no longer be a full time member of Camera Obscura. more>>>

Route du Rock

Un des rendez-vous indie-rock de l'été. La Route du Rock est un festival organisé depuis 1991. Il se déroule en Bretagne au Fort Saint-Père à  Chateauneuf d'Ile-en-Vilaine ainsi que sur la plage du Sillon et au Palais du Grand Large à  Saint-Malo, durant la semaine du 15 août. à€ partir de 2006, La Route du Rock connaît deux éditions par an avec une Collection d'Hiver en février et une Collection d'été en août.
