For the last beautiful day of summer in Paris, the Spectaculaire festival had set up shop on the banks of the Seine river, in Paris, across from the National Library. People were hyped up, drinks were flowing and the music rocking! British Hawaii played at the Dame de Canton, old Chinese junk boat. They played a great punk/rock set to a very diverse audience: young, old, rockers, jazz fans alike all rocked out! A half hour of guitar & drum frenzy easy and good rock. British Hawaii is a punk-rockin French trio. Their music melodies have been compared to Beach Boys and Neil Young, their vocal stylings compared to Frank Black and the noise they make is punk with a pop sensibility, touches of ska, funk and the good old sound of rock n roll. Their abrasive compositions are primarily influenced by such bands as The Pixies, first Placebo albums and Nirvana as well as the raw energy of Fugazi and Sonic Youth. British Hawaii have a electrifying stage presence, making a monstrous sound that belies their modest size in tribute to the power of British trios such as The Jam and The Police. La Dame de Canton

For more than 30 years, this old Chinese junk boat has been known as the Ginguette Pirate (literally the pirate music café). But recently, this atypical boat has gone back to its maiden name: the Dame de Canton . Docked across from the BNF (French National Library), the place is straight out of a asian pirate movie. The concert schedule is quite audacious and avant-gardist (many French artists such as M, Arthur H, Louise Attaque played their first guitar riffs here well before their commercial success). From French music to world music, even rock and slam, this cool floating stage is a great concert venue. It s also a bar, restaurant, or art gallery, depending!

Pendant plus de 30 ans cette jonque chinoise s est appelée la Guignette Pirate. Depuis quelques temps maintenant, cette embarcation atypique à repris son nom de jeune fille : La Dame de Canton. Installée en face de la BNF, l embarcation a l air tout droit sorti d un film de pirates asiatique, véritable vestige de l empire du milieu. La programmation est audacieuse et avant-gardiste (de nombreux artistes comme M, Arthur H ou encore Louise Attaque ont fait leur premiers riffs sur la Seine bien avant qu ils soient connus).
