Aufgang's music is experimental, captivating and definitely ahead of it's time. The classical pianos of Francesco Tristano (that we had already filmed alongside Carl Craig for his VERSUS project) and Rami Khalifé meet the electro of Aymeric Westrich (drummer of Cassius)! Puzzling at times, highly melodious at others, the band's sound is timeless and danceable. Aufgang crosses genres and breaks boundaries, making music that goes beyond limitations set by contemporary industry 'rules'.

Aufgang
Imagine two grand pianos and one drum-kit, brought together on the same stage - improvising relentless funky rhythms, revolted notes and...sweating - perverting unscrupulously the Classic, Jazz, Electronic genres - in front of a disconcerted but always appreciative audience. Do you get the picture? Not really? Well, that is the point!
Highlight of the Sonar festival in 2005 after only five days of preparation, the mutant trio is composed of Francesco Tristano, Rami Khalifé and Aymeric Westrich (Cassius's drummer) and has been touring in Europe and in the States for the last three years.
Literally Stairway in the language of Goethe, AUFGANG was born as an invitation to musical elevation. more>>> - Label
